The foster cat will not be kept in the care of anyone except me and those in my household. All members of my household in charge of caring for the foster cat have been approved by RIFR.

In the event the foster cat becomes lost, I will notify RIFR immediately. If the foster cat is found running at large or has been brought to a shelter or other rescue it shall be returned to RIFR.

I understand if the foster cat has escaped or was lost due to breach of this contract I shall no longer be fostering for RIFR and will return any and all items provided to me upon initial fostering.

I shall notify RIFR immediately if there is any change in my address, phone, and or email address.

Foster cats will not be left unattended in any vehicle and, when transported in a vehicle, all foster cats will be kept in secure, clean carriers to ensure their safety.

I authorize RIFR to perform a home inspection, if they require one, to ensure it is a safe environment for the foster cat.

I will not abuse/neglect the foster cat, nor will I allow anyone to abuse/neglect the foster cat while the foster cat is under my care. I understand that if RIFR has determined there has been abuse/neglect the foster cat will be removed from my care and I will not be permitted to foster for RIFR. In addition, RIFR is obligated to report any abuse/neglect to the State of RI.

I affirm that no member of my household has been convicted or charged with any animal abuse, neglect, cruelty, etc and I also affirm that no member of my household has been convicted or charged with any domestic battery, violence, etc.

I acknowledge the foster cat is property of RIFR until the foster cat has been officially adopted. At no point shall I try to adopt the foster cat to family, friends or any other individual. Doing so will result in breach of contract.

Should I, at any point, wish to adopt the foster cat I will contact RIFR, express my desire to adopt, and fill out an adoption application. All adoptions shall remain subject to RIFR approval. Waiving of this must be provided by RIFR in writing.

If I can no longer care for the foster cat, I will contact RIFR as soon as possible to arrange to have the foster cat returned. Until a suitable foster home is found, the foster cat shall remain in my possession unless otherwise stated by RIFR.

I hereby release RIFR, its Board of Directors, Officers, and volunteers from any claim, cause of action, or liability from any injury or damage to self, persons or property while the foster cat is in my care. I also hereby agree not to hold RIFR, its Board of Directors, Officers, and volunteers responsible for any damages to persons, property, or other pets resulting from illness, scratches, bites or other material damages.

Any violation of the terms of this agreement are immediate grounds for termination and the foster cat shall be returned to RIFR immediately. This agreement may be terminated with or without cause at the sole discretion of RIFR.

I acknowledge and agree that animal bites or other injuries to humans and other animals do occur and that all animals can carry and transmit parasites, diseases, including zoonotic diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans. I understand that RIFR will not be responsible for the transmission or transfer or any disease or parasite to other animals or people in my household and no attempt will be made by me or anyone on my behalf to hold RIFR responsible.

I have completed this Foster Application of my own free will and all questions have been answered to be best of my ability.

You MUST be at least 18 years of age. All foster cats/kittens MUST remain indoors at all times. Foster cats must be kept in "quarantine" away from any household pets for a minimum of 14 days. All household cats MUST be up to date on rabies and distemper and MUST be altered prior to fostering. You must provide a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment. A variety of toys should be available to your foster cat at all times to encourage play and stimulation. You MUST report any abnormal and/or sick behavior immediately. Do not apply or give any medication unless it is prescribed by a vet for that particular foster cat's condition. Also, do not take the foster cat to a vet without the approval of RIFR. You must be able to spend at least 2 hours per day with the foster cat. This can be in increments during the day at various times. Food, water and a clean litter box must be provided at all times. If food or litter is needed, please contact RIFR and it will be provided. RIFR will also provide non-prescription medication including (but not limited to) Pyrantel and Advantage II. Please contact RIFR if you need non-prescription products for your foster cat. You should be able to handle some scared and/or fractious behavior which can be normal for an initial adjustment period. Please contact RIFR for tips on how to work with this behavior so both the foster cat and you/your family feel safe. You should feel comfortable administering oral and topical medication. Guidance is available as well, if needed. You should be able to commit to a minimum of one month of foster care, often extending to 2 or 3 months, depending on the individual foster cat. Should your foster cat get out, you will notify RIFR immediately and begin searching for the foster.
